MEDITATION
Amos 9:13–15
“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the
Lord,
“when the plowman shall overtake the
reaper
and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed;
the mountains shall drip sweet wine,
and all the hills shall flow with
it.
I will restore the fortunes of my people
Israel,
and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them;
they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine,
and they shall make
gardens and eat their fruit.
I will plant them
on their land,
and they shall never again be uprooted
out of the land
that I have given them,”
says
the Lord your God.
CALL TO WORSHIP
Psalm 36
Leader:
Transgression speaks to the
wicked
deep in his heart;
there is no fear
of God
before his eyes.
For he flatters himself in his own eyes
that his iniquity cannot be found out
and hated.
The words of his mouth are
trouble and deceit;
he has ceased to act wisely and do good.
All:
He plots trouble while on his
bed;
he sets himself in a way that is not
good;
he does not reject
evil.
Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of
God;
your judgments are like the great deep;
man and beast you save, O Lord.
Leader:
How precious is your steadfast love, O
God!
The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your
wings.
They feast on the abundance of your
house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light do we
see light.
All:
Oh, continue your steadfast love to
those who know you,
and your righteousness to
the upright of heart!
Let not
the foot of arrogance come upon me,
nor the hand of the wicked
drive me away.
There the
evildoers lie fallen;
they are thrust down,
unable to rise.
CORPORATE PRAYER + LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
WORSHIP IN SONG
CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
All:
Our gracious God and heavenly Father, we confess that we fall short of your
glory each day. We have wasted the time and gifts you have given us. We have pursued things that do not honor
you and have called good what does not come from your purposes or the wisdom of your Word. We have failed to
submit to your will and to rest quietly in your care. We have been quick to speak, slow to listen, and often too
hurried in prayer.
Father, in your mercy, forgive our sins. Make us a holy people, freed from every
sinful desire and from all that is contrary to your will. Grow within us the resurrection life of Christ. May it
rule over us, strengthen us, and enable us to walk in the power of your Spirit. We pray this through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
PRIVATE CONFESSION
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Ephesians 1:3–4
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ
with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even
as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before
him.
